A chrome extension for AI water accountability

You use AI. It uses water. Now you can put it back.

Every AI query evaporates water to cool the servers that power it. If you use AI for work — and increasingly, you don't have much choice — awkifir tracks your footprint and calculates the cost of replacing that water. Then we send it to charities that actually do it.

$3/month for the extension + tracking. Donations are separate, based on your actual usage.

The cost we all should be talking about

AI is in your workflow. Its water bill shouldn't be invisible.

If you work in marketing, engineering, research, legal, or a dozen other fields, AI tools are becoming part of the job. That's not a judgment — it's a fact. But those tools run on GPUs that generate heat, and that heat gets cooled with water drawn from municipal supplies and evaporated into the atmosphere. The people doing the work have no visibility into the cost. awkifir exists to change that. You shouldn't have to choose between doing your job and knowing what it costs the planet.

How it works

Getting started is easy

i.

Install the extension

$3/month. The Chrome extension runs quietly in your browser, detecting when you use Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini. It estimates the water cost of each interaction based on token count, model size, and published efficiency data. You don't have to change how you work.

ii.

See your footprint

Your dashboard shows water usage by day, week, and month — in milliliters, converted to the equivalent number of bottles of water. The numbers are small individually, but they add up. Seeing the number is the first step. You can't address something nobody's counting.

iii.

Fund the restoration

Your offset is priced at what the water would cost you at a store — about $3.50 a liter. But we don't buy bottles. We send that money to charity: water, where every dollar funds 1,100 liters of clean water through wells and piping systems. You're paying retail. They deliver at 3,900× the efficiency. Your small offset builds real infrastructure.

Pricing

$3/month for the extension. Your offset is based on what you use.

The subscription

$3

per month

Includes the Chrome extension, live water tracking across Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, your usage dashboard, and automated donation routing through Every.org. This is what pays for the platform.

Your offset — choose your tier

Your offset is separate from the subscription. It's calculated from your actual AI usage, priced at the retail cost of the water consumed — about $3.50 per liter, roughly what you'd pay for a bottle at a convenience store. You pick your tier:

Put it back

Replace the water your AI used. All of it goes to charity: water.

Put it back and then some

Replace your water, then fund more. At 2× and above, you can split your offset across charity: water, The Nature Conservancy, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Triple it

Maximum impact. Same portfolio options, three times the restoration.

When you get billed

Offsets accumulate until they hit the threshold you choose — $5, $10, or $20. You're never surprised by a charge, and we never process micro-transactions that get eaten by fees. 100% of your offset goes to charity.

Enterprise

$3.50 – $5 /seat /mo

based on team size + offset tier

Everything above, deployed org-wide. Aggregate tracking, admin dashboard, quarterly ESG reports with verified donation receipts.

How donations work: $3/month goes to awkifir — that's the platform. Your water offset is separate, calculated from your usage, and routed through Every.org. We cover all processing fees. 100% of your offset reaches the charities. The two amounts are always distinct on your billing page.

Where the money goes

Verified charities, accountable routing

charity: water

Default — Water Infrastructure

Wells, piping systems, filtration — in communities where clean water infrastructure doesn't exist yet. Every project is GPS-verified, every dollar tracked. 100% of public donations fund water projects directly. At 1×, your entire offset goes here. At 2× and 3×, your first 1× always goes to charity: water — the rest goes to your portfolio.

The Nature Conservancy

Optional — Freshwater Ecosystems

Protects the freshwater ecosystems that supply water in the first place — floodplains, watersheds, aquifer recharge zones. Available in your giving portfolio at 2× and above.

Electronic Frontier Foundation

Optional — Digital Rights & Policy

Defends civil liberties in the digital world — privacy, free expression, and accountability in the tech industry that built the AI you're using. Available in your giving portfolio at 2× and above.

An aquifer is a body of permeable rock that holds groundwater — the infrastructure beneath the surface that makes everything above it work.

That's the idea behind the name. AI extracts water at industrial scale, invisibly, as a byproduct of computation. awkifir is the layer underneath — tracking the cost, funding the restoration. Not a marketing gesture. A practical response to a real problem.

You're already using AI. This is how you put the water back.

$3/month for the extension. Your offset is priced at what the water costs — and 100% goes to charity.

Cancel anytime. Your data and donation history stay with you.
